What do I no know about integrating technology?

When I started this class I knew how to use a computer, computer programs and the Internet. I know now that it takes more than just merely using the programs in the classroom to teach the lessons. Teaching students requires incorporating synchronous and asynchronous tools and ideas, because each students learns material differently. I have also learned how to evaluate classrooms in order to see what teaching practice would be best suited for that setting. I have learned how to take lesson plans and make them interactive, facilitative and institutionally appropriate. I feel the most important lesson I have taken from this class is that if a teacher can use basic technology and has somewhat of an imagination the possibilities of teaching are endless.

What do I think about using spreadsheets and databases in my classroom?

I think that using spreadsheets in a classroom can be a very good teaching tool. Spreadsheets help students analyze and interpret a lot of research and numbers very easily, as well as helps students formulate graphs with few complications. Database programs on the other hand is not really beneficial for students. It is a complicated program which takes a lot of training in order to use the program effectively, unless the basic types of database programs are available. It still seems like too much trouble and other programs can be substituted and more easily used.

What do I think about using visual thinking softwarein the classroom? What about the smartboard? What will they do for the students and for me?

Visual thinking software is vital for students of today's world, it allows the students to critically analyze situations and concepts. The smartboard is a great invention. It promotes hands on interaction in the classroom, which studies have found to be very beneficial for studens' grades and tests. These software aplications help comprehensibility by revealing patterns and relationships, in turn helps the students as well as the teachers. The applications help teachers by getting the students involved while creating an asynchronous and synchronous environments. This will help students with learning to manage, sort and prioritize informationas well as integrate new ideas into their already existing knowledge. The benefits of these applications will not only help students with their school work, but will also help prepare them for the workforce.

What do i think about using geo tools in the classroom.

I think that Geo tools can be a great asset to certain courses and certain teachers,but not to everyone. Geo tools are great for a social studies class because you can show the students different places and put pictures with the places that you are talking about. Geo tools would be great for a math class as well because you can have a student find coordinates of a certain place or state. These Geo tools are great inventions, but unfortunately I don't think it would be easily incorporated into a language arts classroom.

How can technology help me improve my teaching practice?

Technology can help improve my teaching practice by incorporating synchronous and asynchronous tools and ideas into the teaching method. Google groups is an example of an asynchronous tool, it helps the students think about what and how they want to comment on the topic asked. Another tool that i feel could help is an online class chat room it could be used for debates, the students can ask questions and get answers right away this tool is cassified as synchronous tool. Also instructional videos can be very effective in improving my teaching such as Prof. Lambert did with the Word program, this helps with students who are not as technologically advanced by walking them through the steps.

How do I feel about what I am learning in this class?

First i would like to say that this class is very informative. I have learned a lot about different ways to teach students based on their needs. Fortunately for me i have taken a computer class before and i know how to use a lot of the programs, so i can actually focus on what techniques to use to make the class more interactive and engaging for the students. I now know that you can integrate technology into any career field. I didnt realize it was that easy, even with language arts. Since i have been reading and some of the activities in the class have given me ideas which I have written down for future reference, whether it is for the students benefit or my own.

Considering the readings and technology skills i've learned so far, what do I now know are some good reasons to use technology in the classroom.

The reasons it is good to use technology in the classroom is it helps promote constructivism learning. Technology helps integrate experience with new ideas, in order to help the students learn. Technology also helps teachers cater to the different learning needs of the students. One of the best reasons technology should be in the classroom is it helps create augmented realities, which help the students get more involved rather than just sitting in their seats watching the teacher write notes on a chalkboard and yet it still helps keep the lesson instructionally appropriate.

What do i need to know about technology integration before i become a teacher?

Before i become a teacher i need to know how to evaluate the room. Also i need to learn different techniques on how to make all of my lesson plans that pertain to computers engaging, interactive, facilitative and instructionally appropriate. I also need to learn how to create the augmented reality, immersive techniques as well as the non-immersive technique. Even if i am unable to create these exact situations in the class room maybe i can implement bits and pieces here and there.

What do i know and feel about intergrating technology in the classroom?

I feel that with todays technology and the children, who are even more advanced in high school than what i was. Integrating tech. into the class is a very good thing. It will also help teachers to widen the variety of methods they use.
